The Sociology Department at the University of Cincinnati
offers
undergraduate major and minor programs toward the B.A. degree. The graduate
program has both a masters (M.A.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) program. The faculty
has scholars with national reputations and records of award-winning
publications and research grants. The Kunz Center for the Study of Work and
Family provides research funding for faculty and graduate students, and is
an anchor for faculty with research interests in the study of work, family
life, and how they affect each other. The Kunz Center is currently
coordinating a multi-researcher study of the status of women and girls in
the greater Cincinnati area, and will host a conference on that theme in May
2005.
Other faculty study -- to name just a few recent topics -- race and health
care in the U.S., war and children's life chances around the world, urban
inequality and segregation, and the politics of abortion and capital
punishment. In addition, two sociology journals, Sociological Focus, and
the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, are currently housed in
the department and edited by sociology faculty. |
