Professional Summary
Dr. Taylor currently is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati, Psychology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and teaches Graduate and Undergraduate Students. He has also held adjunct graduate teaching positions at Miami University of Ohio and Northern Kentucky State University Dr. Taylor has co-authored publications on sex offenders and has authored four books on chemical dependency. His most recent book released in August 2005, of this year is entitled Diagnosis and Treatment of Substance Related Disorders: The DECLARE Model (Allyn and Bacon Publisher). He is currently writing a book entitled Reestablishing Balance: A New Approach to Understanding Sex Offending Behavior and Treatment. He also has conducted research and co-authored publications and research reports in Environmental Health and Toxicology.
Dr. Purcell Taylor is currently the Director of the Sex Offender Program for the Center for Children and Families and was formerly the Clinical Service Director of Saint Francis Academy’s Sex Offender and Victims Programs in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over the course of his clinical experience, he has worked as Clinical Director of a Halfway House within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections; Sex Offender Violence and Treatment Professional; Forensic Assessment and Treatment Consultant for the Institute of Psychiatry and Law at the University of Cincinnati Medical School; Dual Disorders Therapist and Chemical Dependency Therapist; Assistant Superintendent of the Longview State Hospital for the State of Ohio’s Department of Mental Health; and Superintendent of the Broadview Development Center with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities. He holds a doctoral degree in School Psychology from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Taylor is a member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, the American Psychological Association, the Ohio Psychological Association, and the American College of Forensic Examiners and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychological Specialties with a Forensic Specialty in Clinical Psychology. He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. Dr. Taylor’s current research investigation is on Psychiatric and Demographic Features of 115 Youthful Sex Offenders, Cerebral Hemovelocity Changes Associated with the International Affective Pictures System in Sex Offender, Demographic Profiling of Ohio Registered Sex Offenders, Development of a Risk Assessment Instrument for the identification of College Students at risk for cybersex activities.
