Program Overview

Come with us to discover beautiful Munich, the secret capital of Germany. Learn German in a historic cultural center of Europe that today is Germany's favorite city for visitors and Germans alike. Munich is also Germany's most popular university city.

UC's Summer Program in Munich is a language immersion program. Daily excursions in the city and into the nearby alpine region augment classroom instruction. Weekends include planned travel activities and research assignments in small groups. There are also one two 2 individual days for specific individual projects of your choice.

Earn up to 15 quarter hours in this intensive 5 week language program. Monday-Friday, the course work includes 2-3 hours of classroom instruction each day. The topics of discussion have a new focus for each week: 1. The transportation and Shopping world, 2. The University world, 3. The working/business world,4. The art world, 5. The political world. In addition there is extensive review of major German grammar points, while more relaxed conversation classes takes place during our visits of cultural and historic sites in and around Munich. The intensive nature of the course enables you to develop your German language skills at a much higher rate than in an ordinary classroom setting. Instead of 20 or 30 students we have set the maximum number at 12 which guaranties ample individual attention and much more interaction with your professor. This intensive learning process continues both in and out of class even while you enjoy leisure time.

Eligibility
Any UC student in good standing who has completed the A&S language requirement in German (15-GRMN 101-103; or 15-GRMN-111-116) with a B-grade or higher. The instructor makes the final decision about admittance into the program.
