The Environmental Studies internship program offers students the unique opportunity to directly apply relevant coursework while exploring careers and opportunities in their related fields. The goal of the program is to facilitate the student’s learning experience by first placing them in internships best suited to fit their individual needs and then reinforcing the experience by offering meaningful coursework, feedback and support. The internship program encourages workplaces to set high expectations for interns and provide a structured learning environment in which students experience real life standards and situations that help make the internship experience relevant and worthwhile.

Not only does the program help Environmental Studies majors to acquire internship opportunities, but it also encourages non-majors of the discipline to take part in the internship program as well.  The program strongly encourages non-majors of Environmental Studies to seek out and explore experience in the field and perhaps even potential environmental careers.

Students sign up for the appropriate internship course (EVST500 for ES majors, and EVST400 for non-majors) to receive elective credit for their internships. All internships must be approved and administered by Environmental Studies.  Those supervising interns will be asked to periodically evaluate the student's performance and growth on the job. Likewise, students will also evaluate their internship and be given the opportunity to share their experience with others.

The ES internship coordinator, George Khoury, can assist with internship placement and the development of contact letters and resumes. Contact him at:
