Fernald Living History Project
The FLHP volunteer advisory group meets monthly.

Who is proposing the project: A Volunteer Advisory Group from the Fernald community is proposing this project, in partnership with the University of Cincinnati's Center for Environmental Communication Studies (CECS) and Miami University's Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES).
What is the project: The Fernald Living History Project (FLHP) is an important historic preservation effort. This project would involve Fernald community members in an effort to record and preserve the environmental and societal impacts of nuclear weapons production and subsequent remediation activites at the Fernald site on the surrounding communities.

Over the next several years, the Fernald Living History Project would involve educational workshops and opportunities for community members and Fernald workers to share their personal testimony, journals, and photographs.
How is the project to be funded: Project partners are currently pursuing funding from a variety of sources including private foundations, government grant funders, and corporate sponsors.
Foundations & Groups from whom funds are being solicited:
• Ohio EPA Environmental Education Fund
• Pew Charitable Trusts
• The Ploughshares Fund
• W. Alton Jones Foundation
• Alfred P. Sloan Foundation
• Richard I. and Arline J. Landers Foundation
• Fluor Foundation
Where is information available: Please look for postings of these activities in the following places:
• community and DOE newsletters
• local newspapers
• this home page
How Can I Get Involved? You can participate in the FLHP by providing your stories, lending your diaries, journals, photos, and other relevant materials to the project. Announcements will be made to request these materials once the project has received funding. Please look for these announcements in your local newspapers, in community and DOE newsletters, and on this web page in the coming months.
