College Priorities
As we work to enhance the future for McMicken College of Arts & Sciences and thousands of students challenged in our classes each year, key academic cornerstones must be solidified.
Assuring the number and quality of the college's teaching scholars is essential to serving students in all of UC's colleges. Supporting student learning and enriching experiences outside the classroom also are fundamental.
Maintaining laboratories and computer labs, upgrading facilities and constructing new, "green" facilities for some of the college's largest departments are critical physical requirements.
Assuring a stable and growth-oriented financial environment, spurred by leadership philanthropy, will set the tone for the college's collaborative, entrepreneurial, inventive academic pursuit, with an eye toward crossing our global horizons. Through the successes of the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences, the university is uplifted. The McMicken College of Arts & Sciences is the flagship of the university - and its bellwether.
Private support will provide for needs beyond today's imagination, including:
Financial Aid: Undergraduate student scholarships, graduate fellowships and graduate stipends.
Faculty Support: Numerous endowed chairs, professorships and directorships will enable the college to strengthen its academic enterprise and assure the core of instruction demanded by a growing enrollment.
Programmatic Support: Program support for a variety of departmental needs will enhance student instruction in the classroom, laboratory or experiential opportunities.
Facilities and Equipment: A Social and Behavioral Sciences Building, state-of- the-art laboratories and instrumentation, whether in the sciences, humanities or social sciences, support student achievement and the success of faculty and graduate student research.
