Professional Summary
Hairong Guan is an organometallic chemist with research interests in synthetic organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and reaction mechanisms. After earning a BS degree from Peking University in 2000, he joined Professor Jack Norton's group at Columbia University, where he studied ruthenium-catalyzed ionic hydrogenation of iminium and aziridinium cations. Upon completion of his Ph.D. in 2005, he took a postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Professor Charles Casey at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research project in Wisconsin involved the development of iron-catalyzed hydrogenation reactions. In 2007, he joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati.
