Faculty Achievements Overview

Efforts by A&S faculty for the 2006-07 academic year paid off in a successful round of proposals, publications, awards, and honors.

More than 200 A & S faculty were involved in submitting over 150 proposals and 58 faculty received 47 grants, contracts and fellowships awards from federal and state agencies and private foundations for a total of $7,163,178**. This represents a 3.58% increase in funding over last year and a 30% success rate (above the national average). In addition, Faculty in the Humanities and Classics disciplines received a total of $1,982,257 in research funding from the Charles Phelps Taft Memorial Fund, the Louise Taft Semple Fund, and the American Philological Society, for a McMicken College total of $9,145,435 in external funding.

McMicken College faculty scholars published 93 books and 567 articles and book chapters, gave more than 560 presentations, and received over 193 honors and awards in 2006-07.

In the area of Intellectual Property and Patent Activities, McMicken faculty in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Communication, Anthropology and Romance Languages & Literature submitted 14 invention disclosures this year.
