About the Master's Program

We do not explicitly offer a program leading to a terminal MA except in special circumstances. Students seeking an MA may follow two routes: a Portfolio or Thesis. The thesis option requires 9 courses in philosophy and a substantial piece of writing under the advisement of a thesis committee. The portfolio option requires 9 courses and a portfolio of 3 papers under the advisement of a portfolio committee. Each of these options is spelled out in our Degree Requirements.
