Scholarships for Majors and Second Majors
For in-coming Math Majors:
AMC12 Scholarship:
$1500, independent of need
To qualify a high school senior must score among the top 150 seniors in Ohio in the American Mathematics Contest and enroll as a full-time mathematics major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students apply to Assistant Dean Robert Fee in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Scholarship for Math Counts winners:
$1500, independent of need
To qualify a student must have finished 1st or 2nd in the local Math Counts contest and enroll as a full-time mathematics major in McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. Students apply to Assistant Dean Robert Fee in McMicken College.
Herbold Foundation Scholarship:
$7500 per year for four years, independent of need
These are awarded on a competitive basis to high school seniors to major in mathematics in the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. Students apply to Assistant Dean Robert Fee in the College of Arts and Sciences.
For continuing Majors/Second Majors:
Thanks to the generous donations of alumni and faculty from our department, we have a variety of scholarships for continuing Majors/Second Majors. All are based on scholarly performance in mathematical sciences while studying here at UC. The scholarships are awarded during the winter quarter.
Students apply in January and the awards are made at a departmental luncheon in February.
Each year the Jeanne Gulden Mathematics Prize is awarded to the junior or senior Math Major/Second Major with the most outstanding achievement in mathematical sciences.
