Since 1819 - or thereabouts - the Department of Mathematical Sciences has offered a mathematics major for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Recently we have added a cross-college mathematics major for students from colleges at UC other than the College of Arts and Sciences. It is called mathematics as a second major . The mathematical requirements for both of these majors are the same. We also offer a mathematics minor which is available to students from all colleges at UC.
For majors / second majors we have a variety of scholarships which the department awards in February to continuing students based on scholarly achievement in mathematics.
