Biography:
After teaching for 10 years at Woodward High School in Cincinnati, I received an appointment as an instructor in the Department of Mathematics at UC in 1963. I was subsequently promoted to Assistant. Associate, and Full Professor. I retired in 1996 with the title of Professor Emerita and continued to teach part time for another five years.
While a member of the Department of Mathematics, along with Professor Raymond Rolwing, I was responsible for receiving and administering more than $1,000,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation for teacher in-service education. I published numerous articles dealing with the history of mathematics, probability and statistics, and mathematics education.
I was active in faculty governance as Chair of the Faculty and President of the local chapter of the American Association of University Professors.
I received a number of awards from the College of Arts and Sciences, the Friends of Women's Studies, and the American Association of University Professors.
Since my retirement, I've served as Chair of the Emeriti, a member of President Zimpher's long range planning committee, a member of the WISE committee, and a consultant to the Board of the AAUP Chapter.
Research Areas:
My research interests are mathematics education, salary inequity based on gender, the economic status of the profession, and the status of women in science and engineering.
