Undergraduate Studies in English

One way or another, English courses form an important part of all undergraduate students’ learning here at UC—whether they’re English composition courses, humanities electives, General Education courses, or courses in the English major, Journalism major, English minor, or the department’s four certificate programs.

No matter how you include English in your coursework, you will learn to:

• conduct research and engage in creative problem solving
• develop a stronger capacity for both logical and imaginative thought
• analyze, interpret, and synthesize information
• plan and execute tasks with accuracy, concision, and clarity
• conduct critical evaluations with a greater awareness of the complexity of such evaluations

Your English classes will be some of the smallest you’ll take at UC.  The engaging dialog and individualized attention will make these classes some of the most eye-opening, challenging, and rewarding of your UC experience.
