About the Master's Program in Applied Economics
The MA in Applied Economics is a professional, terminal degree that prepares students for careers as economic analysts in business, nonprofit organizations, government, and non-governmental organizations.
The program provides all of our students with a core of knowledge of economics and data analysis and then allows them to concentrate in their own particular areas of interest. Specifically, the APEC degree requires at least 54 credit hours (equivalent to 36 semester hours and normally 18 quarter classes). The core consists of 21 credit hours and the concentration of between 18 and 20 credit hours. The remaining credit hours are filled with electives.
Most students begin their studies in the fall quarter. Exceptional students with strong economics backgrounds (graduate work) may occasionally be admitted and begin in the winter quarter. Full-time students typically take four or five quarters to complete the degree. This means that full-time students entering in September 2009 will complete the program in December 2010 or March 2011.
