Professional Summary

Dr. Leftwich, emeritus professor at UC, teaches several graduate courses in HRM and labor relations in the MALER program. Previously, as a professor in the Department of Economics at UC, he served for many years as the director of the MALER program. Professor Leftwich has vast experience in teaching courses in HRM, employee and labor relations, workplace dispute resolution and prevention, labor relations in health care facilities, and public sector labor relations. He has published several articles in these areas and presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences. Professor Leftwich has been recognized for innovative research in HRM. He has also served as a consultant and has developed and presented specialized educational programs ranging from courses to workshops for managerial and supervisory employees. Professor Leftwich has served as a mediator for faculty and graduate student grievances at UC. He has been honored with the prestigious Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Director’s Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the Labor-Management Community. In addition to teaching in the MALER program, Professor Leftwich also serves as a consultant conducting research and offering workshops in the areas of HRM and labor relations for organizational clients.

Research Interests

Globalization and labor relations; public sector labor relations; HRM in labor unions; and unionization in the agriculture sector.
