Biography:
Born in Texas, Benjamin quickly found his way to Northwestern University, where he completed his Ph.D. in 2008; although he studied labor economics, he found a wonderful opportunity through a fellowship in the Multi-Disciplinary Education Sciences training grant at NU, enabling him to incorporate a breadth of research opportunities and interdisciplinary interaction into his dissertation.

As Benjamin worked to learn more about policy analysis and the economics of marriage and divorce, these relationships and interaction were a great source of scholarly support and critique. Benjamin's thesis focused on the effects of education in determining marriage outcomes; he continues to study the effects of policies, with particular attention paid to those household implications that traditional economists overlook.

In 2008, he was hired to direct the Applied Economics Research Institute at University of Cincinnati. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Benjamin is responsible for overseeing AERI's contract research, and supervising the monthly publication of the Cincinnati Report on business. In his spare time, he studies the pipe organ, plays tennis, and spends time with his wife and their two cats.
