Applied Economics Research Institute (AERI)

Welcome to the Applied Economics Research Institute (AERI). The Institute is an integral part of the Department of Economics at the University of Cincinnati, a premier national research university that serves the Cincinnati region, its surrounding states of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, and the nation.

The Institute has a three-fold mission:

  1. to serve private and public institutions as an objective, high-quality source of information and consultation on all matters related to economics. The Institute continues the long-standing tradition of Cincinnati economists of applying economic analysis to existing and proposed public policy measures, questions of business and government efficiency and effectiveness, and the issues of regional economic development and forecasting.
  2. The Institute supports economic development throughout the region by providing economic and demographic data and analysis to business, government, and individuals. To this end, the Institute has developed an extensive local and regional database for the greater Cincinnati area.
  3. The Institute provides an educational service by providing an opportunity for hands-on training of graduate students in Applied Economics.
