River Downs Race Track Health Project

For the last several years during the horse-racing season, Dr. Joe Keisler MD (UC Department of Family Medicine) has run a weekly race-track clinic for groomsmen and other race-track workers and their families at River Downs. Many of these workers live at the track and are only seasonally employed. Others are immigrant workers from Latin America. In order to better understand the health needs of this population, Drs Jacobson and Keisler, along with UC medical and anthropology students, have conducted health surveys and interviews. This research is ongoing as are opportunities for student involvement.
