C u r r i c u l u m

The Brain & Mind Studies curriculum is designed to provide students with an integrative and interdisciplinary approach to the scientific and philosophic study of brain and mind.

The curriculum is composed of four content areas:
• Methodology & Foundations
• Psychology Content
• Philosophy Content
• Brain & Mind Electives

Methodology and Foundations courses (21 credits, including courses in introductory computer science, logic, statistics, and research methods) will provide students with the technical and conceptual skills demanded by the study of brain and mind.

Psychology Content courses (15 credits to be chosen from offerings related to cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and perception) will provide students with opportunities for in-depth study of cognitive and psychobiological approaches to the science of behavior.

Philosophy Content courses
(15 credits to be chosen from offerings related to philosophy of mind, philosophy of psychology, and philosophy of neuroscience) provide opportunities for in-depth study of the philosophical issues associated with neuroscience, psychology, and cognition.

Brain & Mind Electives (9 credits to be chosen from courses ranging from biology to electrical engineering and computer science, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, linguistics, and neurobiology) allow for further multidisciplinary study of brain and mind.
