Sister Song
SisterSong is quite busy and we're planning our work load for 2006. We could surely use 3-4 interns next year in the Spring and Fall semesters to help, so I am writing a few of my friends in the academy in hopes that you will encourage a few of your feminist students to help a good cause. What we offer is a chance to work with a group of feminists working together to advance reproductive justice in the United States (including Hawaii, Alaska & Puerto Rico). We now represent 72 women of color and allied organizations and 500 individual members. Our website is www.sistersong.net.
We are looking for interns willing to work in Southwest Atlanta (near Greenbriar Mall), at least 10 hours a week, preferably 10-20 hours), Monday-Friday. The interns will work on a variety of tasks including general office administration, writing for the newspaper, conducting research, and participating in local coalitions, meetings and conferences relating to reproductive justice issues. We believe the interns will learn quite a bit about radical feminist of color politics by working with SisterSong and learn more about developing a career in the feminist movement.
Please have all potential interns address inquiries to Titi@sistersong.net. All candidates should state in their email their learning objectives for the internship (what they want to get out of it), the days and hours they are available to work (SisterSong is open 9-6, M-F but alternative hours can be arranged), and if they have their own transportation. SisterSong is located near a bus line reachable by MARTA. Thanks for your help!
