Certificate Programs

Creative Writing Certificate | Requirement Checklist

Professional Writing & Editing Certificate | Requirement Checklist

Journalism Certificate | Requirement Checklist
American Ethnic Studies Certificate | Requirement Checklist

Who Can Apply?
All four certificate programs are open to any student, matriculated or non-matriculated. See individual checklists for complete requirements.

When Should I Register?
You should register as soon as possible but no later than the beginning of your junior year. Ideally, you should begin taking courses in your chosen certificate program in your sophomore year. You may take courses in a program without registering, although prerequisites will apply.

How Do I Register?
To register, fill out the Registration Form and return the bottom portion to a staff member in 248 McMicken. After registration, you must make an appointment to meet with your English or journalism adviser (students may be asked to supply writing samples with their application).

How Do I Receive My Certificate?
You are responsible for meeting with your English or journalism adviser to make a plan for finishing all certificate or minor requirements. Once all requirements are complete, your adviser must sign the approval form on the back of the checklist and turn it in to a staff member in 248 McMicken.

When Do I Receive the Certificate?
After your final grades are available and have been verified, the certificate or minor will be documented on your transcript. If you earned a certificate, it will be mailed to your last available address.
