Biography:
Jon Breiner received his PhD in chemistry in 1996 from the University of Cincinnati (UC) for work with Dr. James Mark on the structure-property relationships of silica-siloxane molecular composites. Jon has worked at UC since 1995 first as an Adjunct Instructor/Professor, Visiting Professor, and in 1999 was hired as an Assistant Professor in University College. In University College, Jon developed a chemistry curriculum for at-risk students, and began research related to classroom instruction and the First Year Experience (FYE). Upon dissolution of University College in 2003, Jon received a joint appointment to the Division of Teacher Education in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) and to the Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences (A&S). His duties in CECH include science education research, K-12 outreach programs, and collaborations on FYE programs and new curricula. His primary duty for A&S is teaching freshman general chemistry.
